It’s Story Time…With Drag Queens and kings!

It’s simple: if you want your child to understand diversity, be in a space that is inclusive, and to have a sense of belonging in the world no matter what or who they are, then they will find it at Drag Tales.

Our fun, fruity and fabulous Dragged Around London drag performers will give your children a full hour of story time and singing delight. It’s a moment for kids to see the colourful worlds within their storybooks leap to life as they’re read by animated, technicolour drag queens, kings and genderless monarchs.

Your Drag Queen & King Story Readers

Meet the drag queens and kings who will be taking your children on an exciting adventure through fairylands…

Vivan Va Va Voom

This is a queen that needs no introduction, she’s Vivian Va Va Voom! What? What do you mean you never heard of her? 1930’s cartoon sweetheart? Black and white bombshell with a penguin partner called Pimms? She’s a household name (it doesn’t matter that the house only being her own). Always looking for a chance to get her cartoon back on the boob tube, Vivan is the girl to make your heart go boom. She’s Vivian Va Va Voom!

Don One

Expect to be fully entertained by a drag king superstar who has smashed their way through the sequinned ceiling! After a three-month run in the West End Show ‘Death Drop’, Don One has gone on to perform at the biggest drag show in the world in front of 25,000 at Copenhagen Pride '22! Don sings, raps, hosts and does comedy like a pro. With their silky-smooth voice and cheeky chat, they are guaranteed to make you laff!

Tania LeCoq

Tania LeCoq, don't mean cock, but sure likes to get INvolved! Tania loves to lube up the audience, she's a queen of the people, she's funny, she dances, but above it all she is just a ball of energy, bigger than her make-up, taller than her heels is indeed her personality.

Maneeta

Maneeta comes from a distant land, no one is quite sure exactly where. Even she isn’t quite sure where. She refuses to shave – she’s a feminist really – and she’s still learning…everything. While she’s a bit dim and a little scruffy, she will brighten up your day and is almost sure to make you smile. She may “oops” when her sari slips, but we all know it’s intentional.

SemiColon

SemiColon is a genderless drag monarch hailing from as deepest South as we dare venture (Surrey). They host, they produce, they perform! A self-proclaimed body positive powerhouse, who is quirky, sexy, kind, and known for dynamic engaging performances, they're going to leave you hungry for more!

Kallum Király

Kallum Király (his surname rhymes with queer eye, just to make it easy for you) is an all-singing, all-flirting sweetpea of a king. He's got a song and a joke up his sleeve for any occasion and is perfect for bringing some bisexual realness to brighten up your event.

Jules Jones

Jules might look like a glammed-up punk from that one rock band, but is really a flirtatious, forgetful, clumsy clown. The ultimate queer bimbo. This mess is good at rising your serotonin to dangerous levels, despite being the unintentionally sarcastic bish. It’s a condition. From reading children's books to the youngest, to raising the roof at the rowdy boozy club/bars, Jules will catch your eye.

Dandy Issues

Dandy Issues is the King of camp and tour guide extraordinaire! Known for his quick wit on a mic, cheesy singing and feel good humour, Dandy combines the best of old school British drag with a modern drag king flare. Suitable for corporate, tours or cabaret, Dandy plenty of family-friendly fun for almost any occasion!

"Dandy Issues is a bundle of fun!" - Diva Magazine "One of the best king names in the Uk" - The Guardian

What We Will Do During Our Hour of Fun

At Drag Tales, we will adapt to the kids at the session, and make sure everyone has a good time.

We’ll read books like Where The Wild Things Are, PenguinGirlsThe Hug and many other classic stories. We want children to see books they know and love being read by gender diverse fabulous beings so that they can see us as just as normal as anyone else. By using stories they’re familiar with, the whole environment becomes familiar and comfortable.

We encourage our performers to choose stories that they loved in their own childhoods to bring a personal touch to every session.

We might also sing fun songs, and if the kids are old enough, we might also play games. We will also allow for the kids to have a question time where they can ask whatever they would like to understand about drag queens, gender fluidity and why we are wearing whatever it is we are wearing!

And if you have any particular stories you want read, songs you want sung, or games you want played, we are open to adapting to what you’d like your children to experience.

It’s all about creating a safe space to play and learn about the wonderful differences in this big world we live in together.

Where will this happen?
